North America

North America is a continent defined by scale, diversity, and wide-open landscapes. Stretching from the Arctic north to tropical coastlines in the south, it encompasses dramatic mountain ranges, rugged coastlines, vast deserts, dense forests, sprawling national parks, and vibrant cities. The scenery changes constantly, from glacier-fed lakes and alpine valleys to prairie farmland, coastal highways, and remote wilderness areas that feel untouched for miles.
What draws us most to North America are the long road trips, scenic drives, hiking trails, gravel cycling routes, and national parks. Some of the most memorable experiences happen between destinations—stopping at roadside viewpoints, small-town cafés, hidden hiking trails, or quiet lakes surrounded by mountains. Whether exploring major cities or remote natural landscapes, North America offers endless opportunities to slow down, take the scenic route, and spend more time outdoors..

Planning your trip
North America’s landscapes change dramatically with the seasons. Summer is ideal for national parks, road trips, and mountain adventures, while fall brings colourful foliage and quieter shoulder-season travel. Winter opens opportunities for skiing and snowy landscapes, while spring offers wildflowers, waterfalls, and fewer crowds in many regions.
Packing for North America often means preparing for changing weather conditions and long distances between stops. Layers are essential, especially in mountain regions where temperatures shift quickly. Outdoor gear, comfortable shoes, and plenty of snacks for road trips are always good ideas.
Road trips are one of the best ways to experience North America. The distances can be enormous, but the freedom to stop at viewpoints, small towns, hiking trails, and scenic detours is part of what makes travelling here so rewarding. Outside of major cities, having a car is often essential.
Travel costs in North America can vary widely depending on accommodation style, season, and destination. National park areas and major cities can be expensive, especially in peak summer months, while road trips, camping, and smaller towns can help balance costs.
North America is built for outdoor travel. From mountain hikes and gravel cycling to coastal drives and national parks, the variety of landscapes is immense. Many regions have excellent trail systems and outdoor infrastructure, making it easy to combine adventure with slower scenic travel.
